| Ready to go! |
So we have had quite the time getting good internet for long periods of time, and keeping our devices all charged as we are camping now so this is a post that we wrote the first night we arrived here in New Zealand, we were hoping to post it earlier so pretend that this was posted last week sometime! We have arrived! And that was quite the trip. We left Regina at 1230 pm March 31, and arrived in Auckand at 730 am on April 2nd. This meant we had about24 hours of travel total after not really sleeping the night before we left! We seem to like the while not sleeping thing... Anyways, things so far have gone pretty well. When we were still in the Regina airport I was telling Justin how I was looking forward to the day when our clothes & stuff didn't look so brand new. I was looking forward to our stuff looking a bit worn in...but Justin took this a bit too far. He ended up sitting on a packet of butter for part of the last flight of our trip which left a nice grease mark on the back pocket on his new pants. Guess I shouldn't have spoken so soon. We didn't miss any flights, loose luggage, get in any car accidents...so great. We have however proven that we can be the last to come or go to anything. After our arrival in Auckland we wanted to clean up, organize where our money was, have Mil do her weights, and use free internet for a few minutes. Turns out that if u do all of that before going through customs, customs closes. So while we walked into no line up we also walked into no customs agents. When one spotted us he asked us, very confused I must add, why we were there 45 minutes after the last person from our flight. Now being the friendly Kiwi he was, he made some calls and had us sent through. Airport to downtown was very easy. And walking down the main strip was great! Beautiful weather, lots of people, lots of little shops, and a very very nice down town. We went in a big grocery store downtown Aukland this afternoon. We enjoy seeing all the different foods & different versions of food that other countries have. The biggest difference we noticed here is that they keep the eggs on the regular grocery shelf, not in the refrigerated part which is handy when we don't have a fridge in our camper not having to cool them right away. We also enjoyed how the isle for garbage bags was labeled 'rubbish bags.' We had to wait until 2pm to check into our hostel. After we checked in we walked to the Sky Tower. It's quite the view from up there and they have glass floors that u can stand on which was frightening! Anyways here we are! Finally relaxing before leaving Aukland tomorrow for who knows where! Thanks to our families for coming out to see us off at the airport, & for the surprise in flight mail from some of you! We miss you!
